Privacy policy

This policy explains what information becomes visible when you use ShowMyIP, why it is processed, and which service providers support the site.

Effective and last updated: September 19, 2026

Information shown by the diagnostic

An IP diagnostic must receive your public internet address in order to report it. Cloudflare provides the first observation together with approximate network-derived location, autonomous system information, edge location, HTTP version, TLS version, and selected request headers. If you run the protected multi-region test, AWS endpoints report the public source address they observe, their region, selected connection headers, and the observation time.

Results are returned to your browser for display. ShowMyIP does not create user accounts and does not write diagnostic results to an application database. IP locations are approximate and may describe an ISP gateway rather than a person or device.

Operational processing

Cloudflare and AWS may process and temporarily retain network and security logs under their own service policies. This processing supports delivery, rate limiting, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and protection from automated abuse. Cloudflare Turnstile processes browser and interaction signals to determine whether a request appears legitimate.

Analytics and consent

ShowMyIP uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, page usage, and technical performance. Analytics storage is denied by default in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland until the visitor provides the applicable consent. Outside those regions, analytics may operate according to the configured regional consent defaults and available browser privacy signals.

You can restrict analytics through browser privacy controls, content blockers, or cookie settings. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track values are displayed in the connection-details section when the browser sends them; support and legal effect vary by service and jurisdiction.

Advertising

ShowMyIP may use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and limit advertising, subject to consent requirements and account settings. Where required, Google’s certified consent message allows visitors to manage advertising and analytics choices. Personalized advertising is not enabled merely by running the IP diagnostic.

For more information about how Google uses data on partner sites, see Google’s partner-sites explanation. Advertising does not influence diagnostic output or editorial content.

Data sharing and sale

ShowMyIP does not sell diagnostic results or personal information. Information is transmitted only to providers necessary to deliver the requested site functionality: Cloudflare for site delivery and protection, AWS for the optional regional test, and Google for enabled analytics, consent, and advertising services.

Retention

The application does not maintain a persistent diagnostic-history database. Infrastructure providers may retain limited logs for periods determined by their security, operations, and legal requirements. Browser-side results disappear when the page is refreshed or closed unless you save them yourself.

Children

ShowMyIP is a general technical utility and is not directed to children. The site does not knowingly request names, profiles, or account details from children.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when the site’s infrastructure, analytics, advertising, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Questions about the site’s data practices may be raised through the publisher contact channel provided in the applicable Google consent or advertising interface.
